Welcome to Colombia! Right? And it is known for the land of drugs.
I’m going to tell you how I was able to hold back my urge to smoke a spliff in a small town in the middle of the desert surrounded by rastas and hippies on the beach.
I first arrived by truck to this secluded town known for its kite surfing. You have no idea, at night, its so dark and so far away from man made lights. You can see the bands of the milky way galaxy. I always thought it would be impossible to see something like this, but now I realize if you go to a place where there is no power or lights (And no water – It had to be trucked in), you can enjoy the greatest show on earth for free.
I stood there alone on the beach in the middle of the dark for hours upon hours looking at the stars, galaxy, planets (you can literally touch Mars) without hesitation and forcing myself to stay up.
But what turned out to be real success, was holding back on the urge to smoke. Going on more than one month now and I found this the most difficult thing to avoid, especially here where they grow it in the desert.
I just kept thinking about good things and why I was here. To get away from it all and avoid drugs.
I focused on Kite Surfing and met a cool German Friend, Yonas, who we tagged along the beach and traded kite surfing sessions. It was absolutely amazing and genial.
This scene, the desert meeting the beach, the strong off shore winds, was the ultimate place to rest and recharge as I go back to work next week. I think, this guide has really helped me. It’s given me the confidence to say now, the ability to think about other options when surrounded by people that are smoking pot and it makes me proud that I can now say no and not succumb to my old addiction.
Thank You Seb, I really appreciate what your doing for people here. And if you need the guide, its available on my home page.
